Machine washable – cold water and using mild detergent. Avoid drying under direct sunlight. Iron at low heat setting on the reverse side of the fabric.
Jaal-inspired floral motifs
“Jaal” is a design concept prominently featured in Mughal architecture, translated into beautiful functional forms such as lattice screens and carved stones, to improve ventilation and lower indoor temperatures.
Inspired by the Jaal design concept, hand block print craftsmen started using geometric designs to construct the basic grid of Jaal motif and incorporating floral designs to the grid.
The end result, among others, the motifs for this lovely table cloth.
Perfect imperfections
Due to the use of the ancient art of hand block printing, there will be perfect imperfections.
In a world saturated with machine-generated perfection, there is a charm to the imperfections found in handcrafted creations. Hand block printing embodies this charming imperfection perfectly. The artisan’s rhythm – from the steady hand when pressing the wooden block onto the pure cotton fabric to the vibrant imprint left behind – no matter how experienced the artisan is, can be disrupted, leading to variations. An uneven pressure or even a rogue speck of dust can cause variations to the imprints – from slight misalignment, overlapping edges or a touch of extra ink. These are testaments to the human element in the creation process and that the item is one-of-a-kind.
